April Everyday Heroes Winners

Landers is involved in the communities where we do business. Currently, Landers has stores all over Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. We pride ourselves on bringing a small-town feel with big-town values. Everyday Heroes is a contest we put together to honor the people who day in and day out serve our community in a usually thankless way. Landers Everyday Heroes honors the heroes who don’t wear capes — the police officers, nurses and ordinary citizens who make an extraordinary difference in the community by going above and beyond the normal call of duty.

We want to introduce you to the two winners from April.

The first is Shandra Flowers. Shandra was nominated because she is a nurse who gives her all. Shandra’s coworkers saw her work with passion and rigor at the beginning of the pandemic. It is said that Shandra works tirelessly, sometimes at all hours of the day, to make her patients feel loved and appreciated. “Shandra shows up every day, gives her all, and strives to bring hope, peace, comfort, and joy to every single person she encounters, both at work and beyond.” As you can read from this short excerpt from her coworker’s nomination, Nurse Flowers is loved and appreciated. It was our pleasure to choose Shandra as the winner for Central Arkansas’s April Everyday Hero Winner.

Carrie Jo Baker is a Licensed Practical Nurse in Anderson, Missouri. Carrie Jo has three children and selflessly went to work every day during the pandemic until unfortunately, she contracted the virus herself. Despite that, she powered through continuing her education with online classes. Carrie Jo is on her way to becoming a Registered Nurse and we are pleased to recognize the hard work that she is putting in. Hats off to Carrie Jo Baker for being our April Everyday Hero Winner for Missouri!
