Best of Both Worlds: Jeep Performance Parts debuts new half doors for Wrangler
While Jeep Wrangler is beloved for its unique ability to quickly lose its doors in minutes with the supplied Jeep tool kit, the look and feel of going without doors isn’t for every Jeep owner. Some people like the feeling of having a door between them and traffic, while others might not like the look.
Now, Jeep and Jeep Performance Parts has found a solution for those who don’t want to blow the doors completely off their current-gen Jeep Wrangler for a little fun in the sun: all-new half-doors that give you a great new look without going completely doorless. Called the “Dual-Door Group,” the half-doors will be available for both two- and four-door models of the Jeep Wrangler Sport, Rubicon; Sahara, Rubicon 392 and 4xe beginning this spring.
“The open-air freedom of driving the Jeep Wrangler is a one-of-a-kind experience,” said Jim Morrison, Vice President, Jeep Brand North America. “Now with the latest Dual-Door Group factory offering from Mopar and its full catalog of authentic Jeep Performance Parts, our active-lifestyle enthusiasts can easily push the open-air envelope further.”
“We offer more than 500 quality-tested, factory-backed parts and accessories across the entire Jeep lineup,” said Mark Bosanac, North America Vice President, Mopar Service, Parts & Customer Care. “With the addition of new factory-engineered half doors for the legendary Jeep Wrangler, we continue to expand our comprehensive off-road catalog.”
Engineered, tested and fully warranty-backed by Jeep, the new half-door option is available through Mopar Parts. Where full Jeep doors have a window frame, roll up glass, and the rubber and hardware to keep everything weather tight, the half-doors are for when you want to roll without the top on your Wrangler but with smaller doors that match your Jeep’s color and bodywork. First seen on the new Jeep Rubicon 392 concept, the doors are painted in your Jeep’s body-color for a perfect factory match.
While the half-doors are available through Mopar Parts, beginning this spring, Jeep Wranglers will also be available for sale right from the dealership with both full doors with roll-up windows and the optional half-doors stored inside the Jeep, so they can be swapped on and off as you like.
Featuring production-level materials, build quality and paint, the new half-doors are fully compatible with Jeeps equipped with power mirrors, blind-spot detection, passive and non-passive entry handles, and power locks. They also use the existing hinges and wiring used to mount the full-frame doors, so they go on in minutes.
Also included with the half doors are new upper-window assemblies with zippered plastic windows. Made of premium materials, the upper -windows also install in seconds without tools in the event of inclement weather, and are made of quality, production-style materials that match those used elsewhere on your Wrangler.
Those buying a 2021 Jeep Wrangler starting this spring can simply buy or order a Jeep with the new Jeep Wrangler Dual-Door Group. The doors will also be available through the parts counter at Landers CDJR of Little Rock and Landers CDJR of Norman when they are released.
When purchased with a new Jeep, the Dual-Door Group with base-model upper-window assemblies (sales code: AJB) retails for $2,350 for two-door models, and $3,995 for four-door Jeeps. The Dual-Door Group with premium upper-window assemblies (sales code AJS) retails for $2,550 for two-door or $4,395 for four-door.
