First Ram TRX auctioned for $410,000 to help United Way

We’re only months away from the arrival of the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX here at Landers CDJR of Little Rock, and the excitement is building for the world’s most powerful production pickup in history, packing unstoppable off-road running gear and 702 horsepower courtesy of a supercharged 6.2-liter V8.

An early indicator of how exciting the TRX is to the automotive world recently revealed itself on March 26 at the Barrett-Jackson collector car auction in Scottsdale, AZ, where the first 2021 Ram 1500 TRX produced — bearing Vehicle Identification Number 001 — was auctioned for an astounding $410,000.

Ram brand parent company FCA had donated the history-making truck to the effort, and all money received from the auction will go to help the United Way of Southeast Michigan’s 2-1-1 helpline, which helps U.S. Military veterans and their families connect with vital services in times of need.

“When Ram 1500 TRX VIN 001 rolled off the assembly line, it instantly became an incredibly exciting one-of-a-kind collectible truck, and that was reflected by the winning bid,” said Mike Koval Jr., Ram Brand Chief Executive Officer. “More importantly, we’re thrilled that the first Ram 1500 TRX raised significant funds that will go directly to the United Way for Southeast Michigan’s 2-1-1 helpline to provide services to veterans and their families.”

Ram TRX #001 was the first of 702 TRX Launch Edition models built. Created to commemorate the Ram TRX’s incredible 702 horsepower engine, the Launch Edition models sold out in less than three hours when Ram opened reservations for them earlier this year.

“Ram continues to honor all of those who serve or have served in the United States armed forces with distinction through our ‘Built to Serve’ editions,” Koval added. “For Ram truck owners, whether military or civilian, ‘Built to Serve’ is a maxim that they can be proud to stand behind. This auction is another way we can honor our veterans by supporting them when they come home.”

Production of the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX began at Ram’s Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Sterling Heights, Mich. in December.

In addition to the historic truck, the winner of the auction also received a unique authentication kit from the team behind the TRX that includes a box containing a custom-bound book which highlights the development of the TRX, with exclusive photos from behind the scenes. Also included was a model of the truck and a specially-made truck cover developed by the TRX design team.
