Jeep announces the all-new, Hemi V8-powered 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392!

November 30th, 2020 by

For decades now, innovative Jeep fans have been shoehorning high-performance V8 engines between the frame rails of the Jeep Wrangler, creating rock-crawling beasts with the torque and horsepower to claw through pretty much anything. For almost 40 years, however, you haven’t been able to buy a Jeep Wrangler from the factory with a V8 engine.

That will soon change.

One of a string of surprises Jeep has launched this year to help blow the dust off a Covid-weary nation, the all-new, Hemi V8-powered 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 is real, it’s going into production, and it’s coming soon to a Steve Landers CDJR dealership near you as early as next spring! Let’s dive into what makes this Hemi-motivated dream Jeep so special.

The biggest news about the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 is what’s under the hood: a naturally-aspirated, 392-cubic-inch, 6.4-liter Hemi V8! Delivering 470 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque, the Hemi is backed by a Torqueflite eight-speed automatic, which sends power to the ground through a two-speed, full-time Selec-Trac four-wheel-drive transfer case. Like other Dodge, Jeep and Ram products that have been graced with Mopar’s big-inch modern Hemi, the performance upside is substantial, with the engine allowing the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 to launch from zero to 60 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds, and run the quarter mile in a blistering 13 seconds at over 100 miles per hour from a standing start.

All that makes the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 the most powerful, quickest and fastest Jeep Wrangler EVER.

“This is the most powerful, quickest, most capable Jeep Wrangler we’ve ever built,” said Jim Morrison, Head of Jeep Brand – FCA North America. “The factory lift and abundant low-end torque from the V-8 makes the Rubicon 392 the king of the hills, whether you’re rock crawling at low speeds or powering up an incline. And, when pavement replaces dirt, Rubicon 392 makes quick work of the road.”

The rest of the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 is very special too. In addition to signature bronze detailing that graces the wheels, tow-hooks, interior and other parts, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 features unique, stiffened frame rails to handle the power of the big-inch Hemi, along with heavy-duty wide track Dana 44 axles with electronic locking differentials, transmission torque converter lockup control, and standard 33-inch tires on 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels.

A two-inch factory lift gives the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 10.3 inches of ground clearance, for improved suspension articulation and the ability to ford water up to 32.5 inches. The rest of the running gear is similarly beefy. Up front, the The 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 features a model-specific hood with a functional front scoop to push cool air to the engine, plus a unique air-intake system that can channel up to 15 gallons of water per minute away from the engine in extreme-duty conditions. Should the hood scoop become restricted by snow, mud or debris, the The 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 can instantly switch to a secondary air path for intake air, protecting the engine from ingesting anything other than fuel and clean air. In the rear, meanwhile, the The 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 features another Jeep Wrangler first: a functional, quad-tip exhaust.

Inside, the The 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 comes with a factory leather interior over performance-oriented bucket seats with exclusive bronze stitching and Rubicon 392 embroidery on the headrests. Also unique to the The 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 is a leather-wrapped performance steering wheel with paddle shifters.

Other standard features of the The 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 include:

Standard 8.4-inch screen

Jeep Off-road Pages with pitch, roll, altitude, GPS coordinates and more.

HD electrical switch bank

Body-color hard top

Body-color flares

Steel Bumpers

LED Lighting

Remote proximity entry

Maybe best of all, unlike home-built V8 Wranglers, the The 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 comes with a full factory warranty. Mopar also plans to offer over 100 accessories exclusively for the The 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392, including LED off-road lights, a Rubicon winch, Ultimate Dana 44 Advantek front axles with gear ratios available up to 5.38, new off-road beadlock-capable wheels suitable for larger tires, tube doors, all-new half-doors, off-road bumpers, rock rails and more.
